TRANSCRIPT

If you’re dealing with a tough problem right now or trying to solve a conflict in a relationship, I know it can be easy to get tunnel vision and go down one path and one way of thinking about something and get entrenched in your point of view.

And of course, there’s emotions sometimes that are involved, and it really, really can be difficult to think clearly.  Sometimes we get in this place where we’re thinking in black and white and that one truth is true or the other is true, but not both.

But I want to remind you that for the most part, in many situations, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.  In that case, both one thing can be true and the other thing can be true as well.  And that the solution or the answer to the problem is often a combination of both or more than one thing.

So next time, if you feel like you’re struggling, if you’re coming up with a blockage around how can I move through this, you have to ask the tough question, “Can there be more than one reality here? Can there be more than one answer? Can there be more truth here?  And can more than one thing be true at the same time?”

Once you do that, once you free up your mind like that, you’re much more likely to break through, come up with creative solutions to whatever you’re trying to solve.
